Kuala lumpur: Malaysia and Pakistan have reached an agreement to enhance bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors including trade, investment, education, halal products, and anti-corruption efforts. Malaysia has declared its plan to import USD 200 million worth of halal meat from Pakistan.
According to Qatar News Agency, this development was announced during a press conference featuring Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his Malaysian counterpart, Anwar Ibrahim, after delegation-level discussions in Kuala Lumpur.
During what marked his first official visit to Malaysia, the Pakistani Prime Minister reiterated his country’s dedication to fostering a close partnership with Malaysia, expressing a keen interest in leveraging Malaysia’s expertise. He underscored the potential for collaborative ventures in agriculture, information technology, and vocational training.
The Malaysian Prime Minister characterized the relationship between the two nations as strong and well-established, covering areas such as education and defense, and noted the ongoing growth in economic cooperation. He highlighted the significant potential for expanding collaboration in defense, agriculture, digital technologies, energy, and emerging sectors, and assured that Malaysia would facilitate meat exports from Pakistan.
Additionally, the Malaysian Prime Minister commended Pakistan’s position on Gaza, acknowledging that both nations have renewed their call for concrete actions to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people.
