MCIT Signs Cooperation Agreements with Leading Organizations to Boost Third Cohort of Startups

Doha: As part of its commitment to fostering a dynamic digital business ecosystem and supporting the growth of start-ups in their journey towards market readiness, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) signed cooperation agreements with six leading organizations to support the third cohort of TASMU Accelerator.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Cohort Champions include Qatar National Bank (QNB), Deloitte, and Ooredoo, who will each award QAR 200,000 to three top-performing start-ups during the Demo Day. These awards recognize the innovative solutions provided by the start-ups and their contribution to advancing Qatar’s digital transformation.

The Strategic Partners include Commercial Bank (CB), Qatar Financial Centre (QFC), and Qatar Development Bank (QDB). CB will offer free accounts to start-ups without a minimum deposit requirement, while QFC will provide technical and business advisory services, support licensing procedures, and offer incentives to companies nominated by the TASMU Accelerator, provided their activities align with those authorized by or through QFC. QDB will ensure start-ups qualify for the Talent Community program and offer up to six months of free housing, as well as create opportunities for co-investment through its investment arm.

Speaking at the ceremony, Eman Al Kuwari, Director of the Digital Innovation Department at MCIT, stated that the signing of these agreements reflects a shared commitment to start-ups and highlights the importance of empowering them to generate tangible impact. This, she noted, is crucial in building a business environment that fosters innovation.

She also emphasized the importance of institutional integration, knowledge exchange, and collaboration with digital innovation leaders to support start-ups in expanding their operations and accelerating their entry into the local market. By building a strong network of strategic partnerships with local and global institutions, Qatar’s position as a regional hub for digital innovation is reinforced.

These collaborations will further enhance the progress of the TASMU Accelerator, solidifying its role as a leading national platform for supporting digital entrepreneurs. The program has already gained international recognition, with its third cohort attracting more than 1,000 applications from 77 countries, underscoring its ability to draw top talent and innovative ideas from diverse markets.

The agreements aim to strengthen the capacity of the third cohort of start-ups to enter the Qatari market, expand their operations, and develop innovative solutions aligned with the Digital Agenda 2030 and the Qatar National Vision 2030, supporting the country’s transition towards a digital economy.
