Medical Unions call for an emergency international session to unify the international effort against the Zionist attack on Gaza

Baghdad / – The Medical Unions, the Iraqi Doctors Syndicate, the Iraqi Dentists Syndicate, the Iraqi Pharmacists Syndicate, the Iraqi Nursing Syndicate, and the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate, called on the Secretary-General of the United Nations to assume his humanitarian responsibility and call for an emergency session of the Security Council to unify the international effort, opposing the barbaric Zionist attack on Gaza and our people in Palestine.

The head of the Doctors Syndicate, Mustafa Al-Hiti, said, during the joint meeting and solidarity stand of the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate and medical unions today, Friday, in the capital, Baghdad, that “UN Security Council Resolution No. (380) of 2016, which was signed by more than sixty countries, including the United States of America, Britain, and many other European and Arab countries, and Israel also signed it, it stipulates in its terms that these countries adhere to the previous resolutions, which number more than twenty resolutions, starting with the Geneva Convention of 1949 and its protocols, and the emphasis on (the protection of persons, especially those working in the medical and health field and those who support them and all the wounded and children in the event of armed conflicts, and ensuring their treatment and preservation, as well as health institutions in hospitals, schools, means of transportation therein, and all United Nations employees, and ensuring that they are not military targets.”

The head of the Iraqi Doctors Syndicate urged all free people in the world to condemn the barbaric, brutal and inhuman attack on the Baptist Hospital in Gaza, calling for opening the way for medical, God-given and humanitarian aid. He also called on the Secretary-General of the United Nations to assume his humanitarian and moral responsibility, calling on him to hold an emergency session of the Council. Security to unify the international effort against this barbaric attack on children, women, places of worship, hospitals and schools, stressing the necessity of removing all the walls of apartheid created by the occupying entity.
