Minister of Municipality Launches 3rd Qatar Real Estate Forum with Strategic Initiatives

Doha: The Minister of Municipality officially launched the 3rd Qatar Real Estate Forum, an event underscoring Qatar’s commitment to sustainable development and economic diversification. Eng. Khalid bin Ahmed Al Obaidli, President of the General Real Estate Regulatory Authority (Aqarat), highlighted the forum’s alignment with HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani’s vision to enhance quality of life through strategic real estate initiatives.

According to Qatar News Agency, Al Obaidli emphasized the role of the Authority, established under Amiri Decision No. (28) of 2023, in regulating and stimulating the real estate sector. He announced the successful activation of sector-related regulations by mid-2025, following the launch of the Authority’s official strategy in December 2024. With 19 real estate developers already licensed, the Authority is also working on training programs for Qatari professionals in collaboration with academic institutions.

Al Obaidli reported a 54% increase in property registration transactions and a 41% rise in total transaction value in the third quarter of 2025 compared to the same period in 2024. This performance highlights the robustness of Qatar’s real estate market despite global economic challenges. He introduced the Investor Journey initiative, a digital platform developed with multiple ministries to streamline property ownership and residency procedures, leveraging artificial intelligence to improve service delivery.

Further, the Qatar Real Estate Award was unveiled to recognize excellence in the sector, with winners to be announced during the forum. The Authority aims to promote Qatar’s real estate investment climate internationally, enhancing its position as a competitive global investment destination. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is this year’s Guest of Honour, reflecting growing Gulf cooperation.

Al Obaidli mentioned the first meeting of GCC real estate regulatory authorities, held in Doha alongside the forum, to foster regional collaboration. He concluded by stressing the importance of partnerships and regional integration for the future of real estate, expressing optimism that the forum would generate actionable insights for advancing real estate development in Qatar and the region.
