Awaza: He Minister of State for International Cooperation Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad participated in the Women Leaders Forum, held on the sidelines of the United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, taking place in the city of Awaza, Turkmenistan, with the presence of HE Vice President of the Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Care Oguljahan Atabayeva.
According to Qatar News Agency, in her speech at the forum, HE the Minister emphasized that discussions on justice for women are incomplete without addressing the plight of women in Gaza. She highlighted the need for protection, safety, and peace for women in conflict zones. Her Excellency noted the unimaginable suffering endured by the women of Gaza, who are deprived of basic human needs, including education and safety, and face famine threats.
Her Excellency pointed out Qatar’s understanding of empowering women as essential to resilient and sustainable development. She noted that women are already taking leadership roles in various sectors such as government, diplomacy, education, business, and innovation. Qatar’s national strategy aims to enable women to reach their full potential through policies ensuring protection, equal pay, leadership pathways, and supportive work environments.
Her Excellency highlighted the vision of HH Chairperson of the Education Above All Foundation, Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, whose work has facilitated education for millions of children in least developed countries. This vision exemplifies the impact of women’s participation in development, leading to societal growth.
She emphasized that nearly half the population in landlocked developing countries are women, who have been expected to do more with fewer resources. Her Excellency stressed the necessity of investing in women to achieve the goals of the Programme of Action for Landlocked Developing Countries, advocating for a future built with their contributions.
