New york: The Arab-Islamic Ministerial Committee on Gaza has voiced its regret over the US Department of State’s recent decision to deny entry visas to the Palestinian delegation scheduled to participate in the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York this September.
According to Qatar News Agency, the committee has urged the US Administration to reconsider its decision, highlighting the significance of honoring commitments outlined in the United Nations Headquarters Agreement. The committee emphasized the necessity of facilitating dialogue and diplomacy while acknowledging the positive stance of the Palestinian National Authority and its dedication to pursuing peace as a strategic option.
Furthermore, the committee underscored the importance of supporting the Palestinian National Authority and President Mahmoud Abbas in promoting governmental reform and fulfilling commitments made to global leaders to support peace and combat violence, extremism, and terrorism. This call comes in light of the challenging circumstances characterized by escalating tensions against the Palestinian people.
The committee cautioned that any weakening of the Palestinian Authority could jeopardize peace efforts, leading to further escalation, violence, and the persistence of conflict in the region.
