Doha: The Ministry of Municipality, represented by the Organizing Committee of the 13th Qatar International Agricultural Exhibition 2026 (AgriteQ 2026), has launched a photography competition focused on Qatari agriculture in collaboration with the Qatar Photography Center.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Ministry announced on Saturday that applications for the competition will open on Sunday and remain open until January 15. Winners are set to be revealed on February 11, coinciding with the exhibition event. The competition, running over a span of three months, aims to capture the essence of Qatar’s agricultural landscape through both professional and amateur photography.
The winning photographs will be showcased at the exhibition, demonstrating the partnership between government institutions and the cultural and artistic sectors. This aligns with Qatar’s Third National Development Strategy and the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. The competition aims to emphasize the local agricultural sector’s importance as a key element in achieving Qatar National Vision 2030, particularly in the context of future food security and sustainability.
The competition also seeks to leverage artistic creativity and modern technology to highlight the aesthetic aspects of Qatar’s agricultural scene. Yousef Khalid Al Khulaifi, Chairman of the AgriteQ Organizing Committee, stated that the competition is part of the Ministry’s efforts to use visual arts to connect society to this vital sector. He emphasized that this initiative effectively showcases the success stories within Qatar’s agricultural sector and the nation’s commitment to sustainable agricultural production at international standards.
Jassim Ahmed Al Buainain, Director of the Qatar Photography Center, remarked that the competition will provide photographers with a platform to display their creative endeavors and document the stages of development within Qatari agriculture. He highlighted that this initiative will enhance Qatar’s global standing while presenting visuals in line with global trends supporting environmental protection and sustainability.
