San diego: The Ministry of Municipality, represented by the Urban Planning Affairs Sector, has been honored with the Special Achievement in GIS (SAG) Award by the Environmental Systems Research Institute (Esri). This recognition took place during the Esri User Conference, currently being held in San Diego, California, and will continue until July 18.
According to Qatar News Agency, Ali Al Marzouqi, Director of the Survey Department at the Ministry of Municipality, accepted the award from Esri’s CEO Jack Dangermond. The award ceremony was attended by several ministry officials during the conference’s general session.
The Ministry of Municipality issued a statement highlighting that the award acknowledges the Urban Planning Affairs Sector’s efforts in adopting and developing the latest GIS technologies. This includes the implementation of Plan Map and geographic data layers (GIS Layers), which are utilized to support the Ministry’s initiatives and community services in Qatar.
The SAG Award is presented annually to government and private entities globally, recognizing their excellence in employing geographic information systems to benefit and enhance communities.
