Doha: On the occasion of International Volunteer Day, the Ministry of Social Development and Family launcHed the National Volunteer Work Lab, with the event graced by the presence of HE Minister of Social Development and Family Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi. Representatives from governmental, private, and youth sectors across Qatar were in attendance.
According to Qatar News Agency, the launch aims to bolster national partnerships, advance the volunteer work sector, and encourage youth and specialized entities to shape the future of volunteer activities in the nation. HE Minister Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi highlighted the essential role of volunteering in fostering social coHesion and building a participative society. SHe stressed the Ministry’s pivotal role in organizing and developing the sector to ensure its readiness and sustainability.
The initiative seeks to create a collaborative platform for dialogue and innovation among different sectors to align national priorities. The success of the lab relies on the insights and cooperation of all partners involved. The National Volunteer Work Lab program is structured on an interactive volunteer model executed in phases, involving various volunteer organizations across the country. It aims to generate ideas and proposals for a more organized volunteer sector.
By utilizing design thinking and social labs, the program activates national objectives and fosters integration through specialized workshops. The lab’s launch intends to enhance national coordination in volunteer work, develop systems through joint mechanisms, and generate practical solutions for a sustainable sector.
This initiative aligns with Qatar National Vision 2030 and the Ministry’s strategic volunteering projects, supporting the Third National Development Strategy (2024-2030) and the Ministry of Social Development and Family Strategy (2025-2030).
