MP Denounces Repeated Kuwaiti Attacks On Iraqi Fishermen… Calls On Foreign Ministry To Take Serious Action To Stop Them And Protect Fishermen From Kidnapping In The Future

Basra -The MP of Al-Sadiqoun Bloc, Zahra Al-Bajari, on Sunday denounced the repeated Kuwaiti attacks on Iraqi fishermen inside territorial waters, calling on the Iraqi Foreign Ministry to take serious action to stop these violations.

Al-Bajari said in a statement that the repeated Kuwaiti attacks on Basra fishermen are a dangerous indicator that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the executive authorities bear, and they must stop this violation of the rights of Iraqis.

Al-Bajari considered the kidnapping of Iraqi fishermen by Kuwait a clear and explicit assault that must be addressed and this transgression, which is in addition to the transgressions on the land and sea borders, must be stopped, indicating that Kuwait has gone too far in fighting the livelihood of fishermen and preventing them from fishing in Iraqi waters, kidnapping, torturing and terrorizing them in a miserable attempt to infringe on Iraqi rights.

Al-Bajari called on the government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to take an official and serious stance to release a number of innocent fishermen who were kidnapped from the Kuwaiti side in Iraqi territorial waters, as these actions usually transgress Iraq.

She also called on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to summon the Kuwaiti ambassador and work hard to release them and return them to their families safely and securely, and to obtain pledges not to repeat kidnapping and terrorizing fishermen.
