Doha: The Ministry of Social Development and Family (MSDF), in cooperation with Doha International Family Institute (DIFI) and the Cultural Village Foundation (Katara), organized two awareness seminars to raise community awareness of the role of the family in building a cohesive and sustainable society.
According to Qatar News Agency, the seminars were held in celebration of Qatar Family Day 2025, observed on April 15 annually. These events are part of the Ministry’s commitment to promoting the importance of family stability, consolidating social values, and addressing modern educational and social challenges.
The discussions centered on contemporary issues affecting Qatari families, particularly young individuals about to marry and parents navigating the technological age. HE Shura Council Member Khalid Abbas Kamal Al Emadi stated that raising children is fundamental to a cohesive and stable society, with the primary responsibility lying with the family. He highlighted the crucial role of parents in instilling values and enhancing children’s psychological and social stability.
His Excellency further commented on various entities supporting family cohesion, noting the family as the most vital pillar. He emphasized that the celebration of Qatari Family Day underscores the state’s focus on family cohesion, which significantly impacts the nation’s future and its stability for future generations.
Meanwhile, DIFI Director Dr. Sharifa Al-Emadi discussed the growing challenges families face due to accelerating digital openness. She reviewed the impact of excessive smart device use on children’s psychological and social health and the ethical and behavioral risks of video games and open digital content. She emphasized parents’ roles in providing conscious supervision, guiding children toward beneficial content, and fostering positive digital skills.
Dr. Khaled Al Abdul Jabbar, an educational advisor at MSDF’s Social Protection Department, affirmed that families play a vital role in creating a safe and balanced digital environment for children amidst contemporary technological challenges.
