The President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, discussed with the French Ambassador to Iraq, Eric Chevalier, ways to strengthen relations and expand Iraq and the Kurdistan Region’s cooperation with France.
A statement by the Presidency of the Kurdistan Region stated that Nechirvan Barzani received, yesterday evening, the French Ambassador to Iraq, Eric Chevalier, and the two sides discussed the latest developments in the dialogue between Erbil and Baghdad in order to resolve the existing problems between them and the issue of the Iraqi budget, and they stressed the importance of continuing a constructive dialogue in order to resolve the issue based on the constitution and the protection of everyone’s rights.”
The two parties also discussed “ways to strengthen France’s relations with Iraq and the Kurdistan Region and expand areas of joint cooperation between them in all sectors,” pointing to France’s role in Iraq, and stressing the bilateral desire to consolidate relations.
