The President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, called for the enactment of a new law for the Public Prosecution and Judiciary in the region, stressing the need to protect the law and not allow it to be undermined.
Nechirvan Barzani said in a speech delivered during the graduation of the fourth batch of the Judiciary Institute, which includes 60 judges and prosecutors in the Kurdistan region: “The law gives the judge to be brave, and the judge should also reject dictates and opinions on him, stressing that citizens must feel reassured by the laws, and this confirms the success of the judiciary.
He stressed the need to prevent violations of laws, saying: “It is everyone’s responsibility to protect laws and prevent violations of them, led by the presidency of the Kurdistan region, which will stand with the judiciary in this regard.”
The head of the region added: “We are not saying that there are no problems in the Kurdistan region, and we are also not saying that things are going on with a great deal of accuracy, but there are challenges facing the judiciary that should be overcome.”
Nechirvan Barzani addressed the graduated judiciary and public prosecutors, saying: “We have a serious and strong will for the law to prevail, and we are cooperating with you step by step for the purpose of being able to prevail the law, and we do not allow any party to undermine the law.”
He pointed out, “It is necessary to develop a new draft law for the Public Prosecution and Judiciary in Kurdistan, in order to organize the structure of their work, and for the proposal of the law to be submitted to the Kurdistan Parliament for its legislation.”
