Doha: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) strongly condemned the storming of Al Aqsa Mosque’s courtyards by hundreds of extremist settlers, including the Israeli Minister of National Security, under the protection of occupation forces. The OIC also denounced the closure of the Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron, describing these acts as part of Israel’s ongoing violations, an occupying power, against the sanctity of holy sites and the freedom of worship.
According to Qatar News Agency, in an official statement, the OIC asserted that these provocative actions represent a flagrant breach of the Geneva Conventions and relevant United Nations resolutions. The organization reaffirmed that the entirety of Al Aqsa Mosque’s 144-dunum compound is an exclusive place of worship for Muslims, and emphasized that Israel, as the occupying power, holds no sovereignty over Jerusalem or its sacred sites.
The OIC called on the international community to take urgent and concrete measures to preserve the historical and legal status of Islamic and Christian holy sites in occupied Jerusalem.
