On Charges Of Inflated Money And Illegal Gain.. Ruling To Imprison An Official In Samawah Municipality

The Federal Integrity Commission announced today, Thursday, the issuance of a court ruling to imprison an official in Samawah municipality, on charges of inflated funds and illegal gain.

The legal department of the Commission stated in a statement, “The Central Anti-Corruption Criminal Court in Karkh issued a judgment in the presence of convicting the official in Samawah Municipality Directorate of the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Public Municipalities, who is sentenced to simple imprisonment for one year, on the background of inflated funds and illegal gain.”

It continued, “The ruling included obligating the convict to refund the value of the illegal gain amounting to (399,300,800) Iraqi dinars, resulting from the purchase of two properties in Al-Muthanna Governorate with two cars (Tahoe + Sorento), in addition to owning a bank account in Al-Rashid Bank since the year 2015, which does not fit into his usual resources.”

It added, “The court, after examining the evidence, and the disclosure report issued by the Prevention Department, reached full conviction of the defendant’s negligence, so it issued its judgment convicting him of simple imprisonment for a period of one year in accordance with Article (19 / Third) of the Integrity and Illicit Gain Commission Law No. (30 for the year 2011) amended.

It noted that the verdict against the convict included – in addition to refunding the value of the illegal gain – a financial fine equivalent to the value of the illegal gain, and that he would not be released after the end of the penalty unless the two amounts were paid, in addition to giving the Federal Integrity Commission the right to claim compensation./ End
