Palestinian National Council Chairman Calls for Action Against Israeli Occupation West Bank Annexation Plans

Ramallah: Chairman of the Palestinian National Council (PNC), Rawhi Fattouh, called on international and regional parliaments to assume their legal and political responsibilities and take decisive practical measures against the Israeli occupation government, including imposing tangible sanctions.

According to Qatar News Agency, Fattouh also urged freezing Israel's membership in international parliamentary frameworks and treating it as an apartheid regime, in light of the serious decisions approved by the Israeli cabinet, which represent a qualitative shift in the pattern of violations of international law and the will of the international community. Fattouh stressed that these decisions constitute a grave breach of international humanitarian law and the UN General Assembly Charter, and a direct violation of binding agreements, foremost among them the 1997 Hebron Protocol, reflecting an official trend to nullify the legal and international content of agreements and treat them as temporary tools subject to unilateral political decisions.

Fattouh explained that the policies being implemented reveal a clear intention to impose de facto annexation of the occupied West Bank through administrative and legislative measures that reshape the political and legal geography of Palestinian lands, creating a permanent colonial reality at a time that serves extremist and racist internal agendas, disregarding the rights of the Palestinian people and the requirements of regional security and stability.

He added that these steps represent an unprecedented escalation in the colonial control system, a direct assault on the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, and open the door to legitimizing colonization and land theft through racist legislation that removes legal restrictions on dealing with occupied lands, in clear violation of international humanitarian law, the International Court of Justice, the prohibition on seizing land by force, and the ban on transferring an occupying power's population into occupied territories.
