Palestinian PM Pushes Back on Israeli Knesset’s Decision

Ramallah: Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa stressed on Tuesday his rejection of the decision by the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, known as the "Knesset", as well as the recent decisions of the Israeli government.

According to Qatar News Agency, during a cabinet meeting in Ramallah, Mustafa directed all institutions never to implement these decisions, considering them illegal additional steps aimed at preventing the establishment of Palestinian statehood by all means, including accelerating settlement expansion and transgressing the barriers.

He further noted that the Knesset intends to withhold tax revenues, along with other Israeli measures intended to impose full sovereignty, reiterating his pushback against tampering with the historic Islamic and Christian status quo of sacred sites, particularly the recent decision by Israeli authorities to transfer the administrative powers of the Ibrahimi Mosque from the Hebron Municipality to the Israeli civil administration.

Mustafa also stressed that these new Israeli policies and measures contravene international law, international resolutions, and signed agreements. He added that they represent an escalatory policy contrary to international will, which has expressed its position multiple times, the latest being the advisory opinion rendered by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) and the New York Declaration.
