Palestinian Presidency Criticizes US Visa Denial for UN Assembly Meetings

Ramallah: The Palestinian Presidency has expressed deep regret regarding the decision by the US Department of State to deny visas to its delegation, preventing their participation in the upcoming United Nations General Assembly meetings scheduled for September.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Presidency issued a statement highlighting its astonishment at the US decision, labeling it as contradictory to international law and the UN Headquarters Agreement. The statement emphasized that the State of Palestine holds observer status at the United Nations, which makes the visa denial particularly concerning.

The Palestinian Presidency called upon the US administration to reconsider its stance and urged for a reversal of the decision. It reiterated Palestine’s commitment to international law, relevant UN resolutions, and its obligations towards peace. This commitment was underscored in letters from Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to global leaders, including US President Donald Trump.
