Palestinian territories Developments Top 26th Arab-African Investment and International Cooperation Conference Discussions

Cairo, The Developments in the Palestinian territories topped the opening session of the 26th Arab-African Investment and International Cooperation Conference and Exhibition, organized by the Arab Women Investors Union on Tuesday.

The Conference was held at the headquarters of Secretariat General of the Arab League, under the theme "Youth: Core of Sustainable Development Challenges and Opportunities." Arab League Assistant Secretary-General and Head of Social Affairs Ambassador Haifa Abu Ghazaleh said during her speech that the conference is convening in light of the dangerous developments taking place in the Middle East region as a result of the brutal Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip and the occupying powers continued massacres against children, Women, and the elderly, with Israel's failure to respond to international and regional calls for a ceasefire and to abandon the scorched earth policy of targeting defenseless civilians using the destructive war machine with no regard to international law, international humanitarian law, and all human rights norms and conventions.

She added that the genocide experienced in the Palestinian territories, the destruction of infrastructure and all life facilities, the bombing of hospitals, residential neighborhoods, shelters, and United Nations agencies headquarters, are a blatant violation of the right to life, guaranteed by all divine laws and recognized by various international human rights documents and instruments. Abu Ghazaleh called upon Arab and international civil societies to continue with their support for the inalienable Palestinian rights and standing by the Palestinian people in their struggle to obtain those rights, recover their land and establish their independent state on the borders of June 1967 with East Jerusalem as its capital.

For her part, Tamara Vucic the wife of the President of Serbia and the honorary president of the conference, expressed her deep sorrow for the innocent civilian casualties in the Palestinian territories.

Vucic stressed the need to direct efforts towards spreading the values of tolerance, coexistence, and peace among peoples, in a way that establishes a better tomorrow for young people and provides them with opportunities to remove challenges in various development fields.

In the same context, President of the Arab Women Investors Union Dr. Hoda Galal Yassa highlighted that peace and security are the basis for attracting investments, sustainable comprehensive development, and achieving security, safety and stability.
