PHCC Launches Family Medicine Certificate Program in Qatar

Doha: In collaboration with the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH), the Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) has launched the Family Medicine Certificate Program. This initiative is designed to prepare a new generation of general practitioners specializing in family medicine, equipping them to provide comprehensive community healthcare in both public and private healthcare facilities across the State of Qatar.

According to Qatar News Agency, the program commenced on September 1, welcoming its first cohort of 15 medical school graduates, who are children of residents. This full-time program will run for one year, focusing on building a strong scientific and practical foundation for its participants through intensive clinical training, evidence-based practice, and multidisciplinary collaboration across health centers.

Dr. Hanan Al Mujalli, Executive Director of the Clinical Affairs Directorate at PHCC, stated that the new program reflects Qatar’s strategic direction toward strengthening primary care, marking a long-term investment in community health. She emphasized that graduates of this program would play a vital role in the early diagnosis and prevention of diseases, thereby promoting health within the community.
