PM Chairs A Meeting To Discuss The Basic Details Of Establishing The New Sadr City / More

The Prime Minister, Muhammad Al-Sudani, chaired this morning, Sunday, the third meeting on the project to establish the new Sadr City, in the presence of the Minister of Construction, Housing and Public Municipalities, the Mayor of Baghdad, the Secretary General of the Council of Ministers, and a number of advisors to the Prime Minister.

The meeting witnessed a discussion of the basic details of the new Sadr City project, deliberation on a number of aspects and joints of the project, and the importance of completing all the necessary steps in preparation for the commencement of work.

The Prime Minister followed up on the progress of the measures taken during the previous meeting, represented by putting a security wall around the area of the new Sadr City project, as well as following up on the appropriation of its lands.

During the meeting, it was decided to contract with the consultant concerned with developing the final designs for the project during this week.

The meeting also approved the specific time limits for the stages of work on the project and the method of financing it, in addition to approving the model that will be used to build the residential complexes.

In this regard, Al-Sudani directed the need to adhere to the specified time periods, and that implementation be according to the planned stages, and that the concerned authorities should expedite the completion of their tasks.

Al-Sudani stressed that the new Sadr City construction project comes within the government’s direction to take practical steps to address the housing crisis as stipulated in the government program. The strategic projects will provide wide job opportunities for young people, in various specializations and professions.

He directed the necessity of overcoming routine and overcoming obstacles in order to expedite the implementation of the project./ End
