Washington: The President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, has lauded the peace agreement reached in Washington between Azerbaijan and Armenia as a momentous achievement in resolving the long-standing conflict between the two nations.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Advisor to the President and Press Secretary of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Ruslan Zheldibay, highlighted that President Tokayev views the peace deal as a historic milestone that has ended years of military strife and laid the groundwork for diplomatic relations and cooperation rooted in sustained peace.
President Tokayev attributed the successful signing of this exceptional agreement to the vigorous and effective mediation efforts of US President Donald Trump, who played a crucial role in persuading the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia to exhibit political will and strategic foresight.
Kazakhstan also played a supportive role in facilitating the peace process by hosting ministerial-level negotiations in Almaty, where key parameters of the treaty were discussed.
