Qatar Affirms Israeli Occupation Seeks to Undermine Peace Prospects

Geneva: The State of Qatar has asserted that the Israeli occupation is actively seeking to undermine chances for peace and efforts toward de-escalation in the region through its settlement, colonial, and aggressive plans and policies, which threaten both peace and security.

According to Qatar News Agency, this statement was delivered by HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar in Geneva, Dr. Hind Abdulrahman Al Muftah. She made these remarks during her participation in the general debate on the situation of human rights in Palestine and other occupied Arab territories, as part of the 60th session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva.

Dr. Al Muftah welcomed the recent announcements by several countries recognizing the State of Palestine. She noted that these recognitions represent a victory for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and align with international legitimacy, relevant Security Council resolutions, and the New York Declaration on implementing the two-state solution and establishing an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Dr. Al Muftah emphasized that the recognition of the Palestinian state should not remain merely on paper. She called on the international community to fulfill its legal and moral responsibilities and take effective measures to pressure Israel to stop the war and alleged crimes of genocide in the Gaza Strip, including forced displacement and starvation of its population. She urged the international community to ensure the entry of sufficient humanitarian aid and to end the occupation of Palestinian and Arab territories, while holding accountable those responsible for alleged crimes and grave violations against the Palestinian people.
