Qatar Airways Partners with IMG to Offer In-Flight Sports Streaming

Doha: Qatar Airways has partnered with IMG, a global sports marketing agency, to launch an exclusive in-flight sports streaming service on its Starlink-connected aircraft.

According to Qatar News Agency, this collaboration allows passengers to enjoy high-definition coverage of IMG’s premium live sports channels, Sport 24 and Sport 24 Extra. The service is accessible via a dedicated web player on personal electronic devices, ensuring passengers can watch live sports events while flying at 35,000 feet.

Qatar Airways is the first global airline to offer this integrated live sports streaming experience, powered by Starlink’s high-speed internet. Passengers can now access live coverage of major sporting events, including the UEFA Champions League and Formula 1, using their mobile phones, tablets, or laptops on board.

Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Officer Engr. Badr Mohammed Al Meer emphasized the significance of this development, stating that the partnership with IMG is a significant step in redefining the inflight experience. He added that this new offering would bring passengers closer to crucial sporting moments, ensuring they never miss any action, regardless of where they are in the world.

IMG President Adam Kelly highlighted the importance of live sports as one of the few remaining appointment-based viewing events. He noted the evolving consumer viewing habits and expressed delight in making live sports accessible to passengers globally through Sport 24, enhancing the in-flight experience.

Qatar Airways stands as the sole airline in the Middle East and North Africa region offering high-speed internet comparable to home broadband speeds, available on its Boeing 777 and Airbus A350 fleets. As of June 2025, Qatar Airways has completed over 12,000 Starlink-connected flights, with its Boeing 777-300ER fleet fully equipped.

This launch coincides with a busy global sports calendar on Sport 24 and Sport 24 Extra, featuring events like the FIFA Club World Cup 2025, UEFA Women’s EURO 2025, Wimbledon Championships, the British Open, and more.
