Doha: Based on the strong fraternal relations between the State of Qatar and the Republic of Tunisia, HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani met with HE Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration, and Tunisians Abroad of the Republic of Tunisia Mohamed Ali Nafti in Doha. The meeting underscored a shared commitment to enhance bilateral cooperation in various fields.
According to Qatar News Agency, HE Mohamed Ali Nafti conveyed the greetings of HE President of the Republic of Tunisia Kais Saied to HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, along with wishes for the continued prosperity of Qatar. In return, HE the Prime Minister conveyed the greetings of HH the Amir to HE the President of Tunisia, expressing wishes for progress and prosperity for the Tunisian government and people.
The meeting highlighted Qatar’s support for the Tunisian community residing in Qatar and the Tunisian School in Doha. Discussions focused on strengthening relations in political, economic, investment, development, and cultural fields, aiming to serve the interests of both nations.
Both sides emphasized the importance of initiating negotiations between their trade ministers for an economic partnership and free trade agreement. This would involve the Qatari-Tunisian business council to explore new cooperation opportunities. Proposed projects in health, food security, housing, education, higher education, and media were welcomed.
Regional and international issues were also discussed, with a focus on the Palestinian cause. Both countries expressed support for Palestinian rights and condemned Israeli plans against Palestinians. Tunisia appreciated Qatar’s efforts under HH the Amir’s leadership to end aggression and support peace efforts.
The meeting concluded with a commitment to ongoing coordination and consultation, aiming to broaden bilateral cooperation and align stances on enhancing joint Arab action for regional peace and stability.
