Doha: The State of Qatar today chaired the 26th Meeting of the Undersecretaries of the Ministries of Transport of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC). The meeting was led by Hassan Al Hail, Advisor to the Minister of Transport, and saw the participation of GCC undersecretaries of the ministries of transport along with HE Assistant Secretary for Economic and Development Affairs of the Secretariat General of the GCC, Khalid Ali Salim Al Sunaidi.
According to Qatar News Agency, the discussions during the meeting focused on the GCC Railways Authority and the GCC Railway Project, including its latest developments. The agenda also included the General Agreement for Connecting the States of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf to the Railway Project. Additionally, the meeting reviewed the progress on the land transportation strategy for the GCC States and the executive regulations of the GCC uniform system for universal land transportation.
The meeting also covered mari
time and harbor-related issues, including the regulations for conventional merchant vessels accessing the waters and harbors of the GCC States, and the infrastructure accommodating these vessels. Further discussions were held on the uniform conditions and controls for granting driving licenses to offshore units not governed by international maritime conventions. Several other topics aimed at enhancing cooperation and coordination in transportation among GCC countries were also discussed.
The recommendations from this meeting have been forwarded to the GCC Transport Ministers Committee for their endorsement during their 26th meeting, scheduled for tomorrow, Nov. 7.
