Qatar Charity Launches 27th Night Challenge to Fund Urgent Medical Interventions

Doha: As part of its Ramadan campaign "Good Starts With You," Qatar Charity (QC) is set to launch the "27th Night Challenge" tomorrow (Sunday) evening under the theme "Warding off Calamity." This event is anticipated to be the largest fundraising effort on YouTube dedicated to life-saving medical interventions. The initiative aims to raise QR 40 million to support urgent humanitarian medical programs in several countries, as well as in Qatar, through the generosity of donors.

According to Qatar News Agency, the live event will be broadcast from 9:00 p.m. to midnight on the Al-Ghafri YouTube channel (QQQ) and Qatar Charity's YouTube channel. Social media influencer Abdullah Al-Ghafri and broadcaster Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Harami will lead the broadcast, encouraging community engagement and mobilizing contributions throughout the challenge.

The event will feature several influencers, medical professionals, supporting medical centers, and partner platforms, with Mirsal Qatar serving as the media partner to amplify the humanitarian message and ensure the appeal reaches a wide audience. The "27th Night Challenge" is strategically held during the last ten days of Ramadan, particularly focusing on the 27th night, a night of hope for mercy and forgiveness among Muslims. Qatar Charity aims to transform this blessed night into a platform for meaningful giving, uniting benefactors around a life-saving effort to help patients, many of whom are children, receive urgent surgeries that cannot be delayed.

This year, Qatar Charity is emphasizing the health sector due to the growing number of critical cases requiring urgent treatment in high-need countries, particularly in areas of cardiac surgery and specialized treatments for children. Delays in treatment for children, who are among the most vulnerable, can lead to life-threatening complications or the loss of early recovery opportunities.

The health initiatives include open-heart surgeries, correction of congenital heart defects in children, treatment of eye diseases and surgeries to restore sight, cochlear implants for children with hearing loss, and treatment for severe malnutrition. Additionally, medical interventions will support patients with chronic illnesses and critical health conditions within Qatar. These efforts aim to save lives and foster stories of recovery.

The "27th Night Challenge" plans to carry out approximately 6,770 surgeries, provide malnutrition treatment, and support cancer patients in Qatar, impacting thousands of people and their families. The initiatives will be implemented in various countries with significant healthcare service gaps, including Yemen, Mauritania, Djibouti, Gambia, Chad, Niger, Tanzania, Syria, Bangladesh, Kyrgyzstan, Sri Lanka, Ghana, Somalia, Burkina Faso, Nigeria, Morocco, and Jordan, alongside humanitarian cases in Qatar.

In parallel with the live broadcast, Qatar Charity will conduct humanitarian medical camps in four countries, with some surgeries streamed live to highlight transparency and demonstrate the real impact of contributions. In Yemen, medical teams will focus on repairing congenital heart defects and performing open-heart surgeries for children. In Bangladesh, surgeons will conduct congenital heart defect repair procedures for children. Ghana will host a camp focused on eye surgeries and cochlear implant operations, while Somalia will have a medical camp dedicated to treating eye diseases and performing eye surgeries.

Qatar Charity invites individuals, institutions, and companies to seize the blessings of this night and join the "27th Night Challenge." Contributions during these exceptional circumstances can help ward off hardships from communities while saving lives, easing suffering, and offering new hope to children and families. Projects supported through this initiative are eligible for Zakat, and donations can be made during the live broadcast and will continue for two days through Qatar Charity's approved donation channels.
