Doha: Qatar secured two podium finishes at the Bahrain Amateur Golf Championship, winning silver and bronze medals in one of the region’s key tournaments.
According to Qatar News Agency, Daniil Sokolov earned the silver medal after finishing second overall with an impressive performance. He opened the tournament with a strong first round of 65, followed by rounds of 70 and 76, totaling 211 strokes ‘ five under par.
Teammate Saleh Al Kaabi claimed the bronze medal, carding rounds of 68, 72, and 72 for a total of 212 strokes ‘ four under par ‘ to secure third place. The gold medal and tournament title went to Malaysia’s Zubair Firdaus, who topped the leaderboard with a three-round total of 209 strokes after a close contest with Sokolov.
Fahad Nasser Al Nuaimi, Qatar Golf Association Secretary-General and head of the Qatari delegation, praised the tournament as a key event on both the Arab and international circuits. He noted that the players’ success reflects the association’s strategic plan to enhance the technical and mental readiness of Qatar’s golfers.
He added that Qatari players continue to lead the Arab golf rankings, attributing the progress to structured training programs and sustained support. Al Nuaimi also reaffirmed the federation’s commitment to developing young talent and ensuring strong representation for Qatar on regional and international stages.
