Qatar Engages in Key Conservation Discussions at IUCN Congress in UAE

Abu dhabi: HE Minister of Environment and Climate Change, Dr Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie, participated in the opening ceremony of the IUCN World Conservation Congress, which commenced in the United Arab Emirates.

According to Qatar News Agency, the congress is organised by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) under the theme of enabling transformative nature conservation. Running from October 9 to 15, it is one of the largest global gatherings focused on environmental protection and natural resource conservation. The event aims to strengthen regional and international cooperation, promote innovative solutions to environmental challenges, and support the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

The congress also serves as a global platform for exchanging expertise, showcasing best practices, and advancing shared efforts to preserve biodiversity and promote a more sustainable future for coming generations. Held once every four years, the World Conservation Congress brings together over 1,400 governmental and non-governmental organisations. This year’s edition includes voting on key environmental issues and shaping future policy directions for fostering a sustainable relationship between humanity and the planet.
