Cairo: The State of Qatar actively participated in the 164th ordinary session of the Council of the Arab League at the level of permanent representatives. The session began on Monday at the General Secretariat of the Arab League’s headquarters in Cairo and is set to continue over two days. Leading the delegation from Qatar was HE Ambassador Tariq Ali Faraj Al Ansari, who serves as the Permanent Representative of the State to the Arab League.
According to Qatar News Agency, HE Tariq Ali Faraj Al Ansari emphasized that the meetings of the Permanent Representatives are preparatory steps for the upcoming 164th session of the Council of the Arab League at the level of Foreign Ministers, scheduled for Thursday. The discussions during these meetings are addressing both procedural and substantive issues, with a focus on the Arab-Israeli conflict, stability in the Middle East, and recent developments related to international peace and security within the Arab region.
HE Al Ansari highlighted that the session’s agenda includes numerous draft resolutions aimed at supporting central Arab concerns, such as the Palestinian issue, as well as initiatives for achieving security and stability. The agenda also includes providing aid to Arab nations facing special circumstances, including Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Yemen, Sudan, Somalia, Djibouti, Comoros, and Iraq. Additionally, there is a focus on supporting water security for Egypt and Sudan.
In his concluding remarks to QNA, HE Tariq Ali Faraj Al Ansari noted that these decisions align with the Arab League’s role as a regional organization that complements the United Nations’ efforts to establish international peace and security. This is particularly significant for the fraternal Arab countries currently navigating challenging circumstances.
