Doha: The State of Qatar took part in the 104th session of the Standing Committee for Arab Media in Kuwait on Tuesday, alongside representatives from media ministries and authorities across Arab nations. This session was convened to prepare for the meeting of the Council of Arab Information Ministers and to review the progress on joint Arab media strategies and plans.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Qatari delegation was led by Abdullah Ghanem Al Binali Al Mohannadi, the Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Agreements at the Qatar Media Corporation. The committee's discussions centered on several priority media issues, including enhancing the role of Arab media in advocating for the Palestinian cause, countering misleading narratives, and boosting international media efforts to spotlight the plight and rights of the Palestinian people.
The agenda also included deliberations on the evolving digital media landscape, with a focus on the application of artificial intelligence technologies in media practices, the ethics surrounding its use, and strategies to tackle misinformation, rumors, and hate speech on digital platforms.
Concluding its meeting, the committee formulated a series of recommendations and proposals for the Council of Arab Information Ministers' approval. These proposals aim to enhance joint Arab media coordination, adapt to the swift changes in the media sector, and strengthen the regional and international presence of Arab media.
