Qatar Launches National Strategy to Combat Corruption Under Prime Minister’s Patronage

Doha: Under the patronage of HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jasim Al-Thani, the Administrative Control and Transparency Authority (ACTA) launched the National Strategy to Promote Integrity, Transparency, and Prevent Corruption (2025 Spound ‘2030) on Wednesday.

According to Qatar News Agency, the strategy aims to bolster integrity and transparency while preventing corrupt practices across various sectors in Qatar. The initiative reflects the country’s commitment to enhancing governance and public trust through comprehensive reforms.

In another significant development, the Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA), in collaboration with Reseaux IP Europeens Network Coordination Centre (RIPE NCC), conducted a specialized training workshop focused on Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6). This training is part of the ongoing efforts to advance Qatar’s digital infrastructure.

Meanwhile, the Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA) completed its strategic Customer Database Update Project, aligning with its comprehensive digital transformation plan. This initiative is expected to improve public service infrastructure significantly.

The international conference on the protection of journalists in armed conflict zones commenced on Wednesday. Organized by the National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) and Al Jazeera Public Liberties and Human Rights Centre (PLHRC), the event is held in cooperation with UNESCO and the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights.

In humanitarian efforts, the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD), in cooperation with Qatar Charity (QC), provided urgent assistance to Palestinian refugees from the Gaza Strip in Jordan. The aid includes food parcels and household support packages aimed at alleviating the refugees’ suffering.

On the economic front, the Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) index experienced a decline, closing lower by 14.15 points, or 0.13 percent, at 10,897.38 points. The dip was attributed to losses across five sectors, signaling cautious investor sentiment.

Furthermore, the Qatar Financial Markets Authority (QFMA) announced an awareness campaign for the Gulf Smart Investor Award’s fourth season, part of the Gulf Investment Awareness Program (Mulim), running from September 2025 to February 2026.

In aviation and logistics, a collaboration agreement was signed between the Qatar Free Zones Authority and Qatar Airways to enhance Qatar’s competitiveness as a global hub.

Dukhan Bank reported a 4.4 percent increase in net profit over the past nine months, reaching QR 1.191 billion, compared to QR 1.141 billion for the same period in 2024.

Additionally, the Qatar International Centre for Conciliation and Arbitration (QICCA) concluded the ‘Qualification and Preparation of Arbitrators Programme’ in cooperation with Qatar University’s Centre for Continuing Education.

In cultural initiatives, the Qatar Social and Cultural Center for the Blind organized an awareness session on mental health to mark World Mental Health Day, observed on October 10.

Visit Qatar announced a landmark entertainment partnership with MELT Live, further boosting the country’s tourism sector.

In sports, Qatar and Oman played a goalless draw in their opening Group A match of the Asian play-off qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, hosted at Jassim bin Hamad Stadium in Doha. Concurrently, the U18 Beach Volleyball World Championship continued in Doha, a first for the Middle East.

The meetings of the heads of the GCC basketball federations and the Gulf Basketball Association board of directors are scheduled to take place in Doha on Thursday.
