Doha: In a recent editorial, Al-Raya emphasized the crucial role of empowering Qatari youth as a fundamental driver of the nation’s future and a key element of sustainable development. The state has mobilized its resources to support this vital demographic, aiming not only for their contribution within the country but also for their representation on the global stage.
According to Qatar News Agency, Al-Raya highlighted the importance of investing in youth as a strategic necessity in the face of rapid global changes. This investment aligns with the Qatar National Vision 2030, which prioritizes the human element as the foundation of any comprehensive renaissance. Youth empowerment is at the core of Qatar’s national policies, with national institutions providing advanced educational and training opportunities. Initiatives by Qatar Foundation and Education Above All Foundation are examples of efforts to equip young Qataris with necessary skills. Additionally, innovation and entrepreneurship are being fostered through business incubators and the Qatar Mobility Innovations Center, enabling young people to turn ideas into viable projects that contribute to economic diversification.
Qatar’s vision extends beyond its borders, with numerous initiatives supporting global youth in education and economic empowerment. This reflects the belief that investing in young people’s potential, both domestically and internationally, is key to sustainable development, prosperity, and global leadership, Al-Raya concluded.
In another local development, The Peninsula highlighted Qatar’s robust tourism sector, noting a significant increase in international visitors. The country welcomed over 2.6 million visitors in the first half of 2025, marking a 3% rise from the previous year. This growth underscores Qatar’s growing stature as a global tourism hub and its strategic vision to diversify its economy in line with Qatar National Vision 2030. Earlier this year, Qatar Tourism reported that the tourism sector contributed QR55 billion to the GDP in 2024, accounting for an estimated 8% of the total economy, demonstrating progress towards the Tourism Strategy 2030 target.
The Peninsula concluded that Qatar’s rise as a tourism powerhouse is a result of a strategic blend of cultural authenticity, world-class events, and forward-thinking policies. As the nation continues investing in its tourism ecosystem, it is poised to redefine global travel.
Meanwhile, Al-Watan condemned the targeting of Al Jazeera correspondents in Gaza City. The attack, resulting from an Israeli airstrike on a journalists’ tent near Al-Shifa Hospital, is seen as part of Tel Aviv’s broader plans to escalate its operations in the Gaza Strip. The paper argued that the killing of journalists indicates preparations for significant actions in Gaza City, potentially involving large-scale violence that Israel does not want documented.
Al-Watan stressed that condemnation alone is insufficient unless backed by decisive action. The international community’s failure to act after previous attacks on journalists has led to increased casualties among media professionals. The editorial concluded by emphasizing the need for accountability to prevent further targeting of journalists fulfilling their professional duties.
