Cairo: Qatar’s national basketball team will tip off its FIBA Asia Cup 2025 campaign against Lebanon on August 6 in Group A of the tournament, which will be held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, with 16 national teams participating.
According to Qatar News Agency, the first-round schedule released Sunday by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) Asia, Qatar will play South Korea on August 8, then conclude its group stage matches against Australia on August 10.
The teams in the Asia Cup finals have been divided into four groups of four. Group winners will directly advance to the quarterfinals, while the second and third-place teams will play elimination games to determine the remaining quarterfinalists.
The draw placed Qatar in Group A alongside Australia, Lebanon, and South Korea, considered one of the tournament’s toughest groups due to the participating teams’ historical performance.
Group B features Japan, Iran, Syria, and Guam. Group C includes Saudi Arabia, China, Jordan, and India. Group D comprises New Zealand, the Philippines, Chinese Taipei, and Iraq.
