Qatar Triumphs Over Malaysia in T20 World Cup Qualifier

Muscat: Qatar’s national cricket team secured a one-run victory over Malaysia in the Asia-Pacific qualifiers for the 2025 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. Qatar posted a total of 124 runs and managed to restrict Malaysia to 123 in a tense finish, marking a significant win in Muscat. This victory is particularly noteworthy as it follows a close opening loss to the UAE on Wednesday, where Qatar fell short by just one run, with a score of 119 against UAE’s 118.

According to Qatar News Agency, the regional qualifiers hosted by Oman feature nine teams, including Qatar, Kuwait, the UAE, Malaysia, Oman, Japan, Nepal, Papua New Guinea, and Samoa. The competition is fierce, with each team vying for a coveted spot in the T20 World Cup finals.

Qatar’s team is now looking to use this narrow win as a momentum builder for their upcoming matches. Their aim is clear: to secure a place in the T20 World Cup finals and continue their journey in international cricket.
