Doha: In their Sunday editorials, Qatari newspapers reiterated the State of Qatar’s unwavering stance in support of the Palestinian cause and the resilience of the Palestinian people.
According to Qatar News Agency, the newspapers sharply criticized the Israeli authorities’ decision to fully occupy the Gaza Strip, describing it as a dangerous escalation that threatens to worsen the humanitarian crisis, amplify its disastrous consequences, and undermine efforts for a permanent ceasefire.
The publications emphasized Qatar’s ongoing calls for the international community to uphold its legal and moral responsibilities by taking immediate action to prevent the Israeli occupation authorities from proceeding with this decision. On a domestic note, the newspapers praised the successful collaboration between the Qatar Sports For All Federation and the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in organizing summer camps, highlighting their role in enriching students’ vacations and improving mental well-being.
Al-Sharq, in its editorial, underscored Qatar’s steadfast support for the Palestinian cause, aligning with international legitimacy and the two-state solution, which advocates for an independent Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned the Israeli decision, warning of its potential to exacerbate the ongoing humanitarian crisis and its catastrophic impacts.
The State of Qatar is actively engaged in diplomatic efforts to end the conflict, either through collaboration with Egypt and the United States or by supporting regional and international de-escalation initiatives. The newspaper called for urgent international action to halt Israeli actions, ensure humanitarian aid access in Gaza, and pressure for a comprehensive ceasefire.
Al-Raya accused the Israeli government of war crimes and ethnic cleansing against Palestinians, highlighting the reoccupation decision as the latest in a series of atrocities. The editorial noted Qatar’s strong condemnation of the Israeli decision, urging the international community to fulfill its responsibilities and prevent further occupation actions.
The paper emphasized the necessity for Israel to comply with international law, restore Palestinian rights, and immediately stop its violations, including using starvation as a weapon. Al-Raya concluded by affirming that lasting peace can only be achieved through the two-state solution, establishing an independent Palestinian state along the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, in line with international law and UN resolutions.
