In its editorial titled “Italy and Germany.. Strong Partnership with Qatar,” Al-Arab newspaper said that HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani begins Sunday a state visit to the friendly Republic of Italy, followed by an official visit to the friendly Federal Republic of Germany. Qatar has strong and enduring relations with both friendly nations, based on mutual cooperation in various fields.

The joint work between Qatar and Italy has resulted in a commitment to deepening the partnership in areas of mutual interest for the benefit of the two friendly nations. It also provides a central framework for initiatives to enhance cooperation between the two countries across various sectors and serves as an opportunity to accelerate the development of bilateral relations and elevate them to new heights, the newspaper noted Qatar is an important partner for Germany in the Middle East and North Africa region, based on more than 60 years of trade relations. Qatari-German relations are built on solid foundations of
trust, mutual respect and shared interests. These are strategic relations, supported by close cooperation that has strengthened in recent years, Al-Arab added.

During the visits, HH the Amir is expected to discuss with the leaders and senior officials of both countries ways to enhance the bonds of friendship and cooperation in various fields, in addition to addressing several regional and international issues of mutual interest, the newspaper concluded.

In its editorial titled “Qatar’s Vigorous Efforts to Support Global Peace,” Al-Raya newspaper said that since joining the United Nations in 1971, Qatar has maintained a prominent and distinguished presence in most of the international organization’s activities, particularly in humanitarian and developmental aspects. Qatar has also made notable contributions to supporting international peace efforts to achieve humanitarian goals. The State has proven its ability to influence the international community through its independent positions and consistent approach
to international issues, including the Palestinian cause and human rights around the world. Additionally, Qatar has supported key institutions affiliated with the United Nations and promoted resolving conflicts through dialogue and peaceful means.

Qatar’s foreign policy is grounded in a set of principles aimed at fostering international cooperation and promoting the peaceful resolution of conflicts. The state firmly believes in the power of diplomacy and dialogue to address disputes. Qatars foreign policy is based on its commitment to respecting all treaties and international agreements to which it is a party. Key priorities of Qatar’s foreign policy include promoting sustainable development, reducing discrimination against women and religious minorities, providing humanitarian aid in war and conflict zones, supporting efforts to address anticipated humanitarian needs during emergencies, and resolving conflicts through dialogue and mediation, the newspaper added.

Al-Raya concluded by saying that Qatar conti
nues to support United Nations institutions and other international organizations in the field of peacebuilding. It has always been proactive and ready to provide all forms of support and assistance to promote global peace and security.

In local affairs, English newspaper, The Peninsula, said that Qatar has become a global sports hub. Over the years, the country has hosted multiple football tournaments, and two years ago, it was home to the best-ever FIFA World Cup the first in the Middle East and the Arab world.

In its editorial titled “Striving to Maintain Excellence,” the newspaper said that earlier this year, Qatar staged the AFC Asian Cup 2023, hailed as the “greatest-ever” edition of the continental showpiece. Qatar will continue hosting major football tournaments, having already secured the hosting rights for several events over the next 10 years.

To ensure continued organisational excellence, the Qatar Football Association (QFA) recently tasked the Organizing Committee for the 2023 AFC Asian Cup to
carry on its mission. After restructuring, the body will now function as the Local Organizing Committee for Football Events. Minister of Sports and Youth HE Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani will continue to lead the committee, with Jassim Abdulaziz Al Jassim remaining as the CEO, The Peninsula noted.

The Board of Trustees of the QFA Awards introduced the Best Goalkeeper Award to encourage excellence and promote healthy competition among goalkeepers, the newspaper added.

At the end of this editorial, The Peninsula referred to the Best Stand Award that will debut in the next QFA Awards to motivate clubs to better engage with and inspire their supporters to attend matches. These new awards underscore the QFAs commitment to raising the quality of play on the field and fan involvement in the stands.
