Doha: Qatari newspapers on Friday highlighted the fruitful outcome of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani’s first official visit to Canada, stressing that the visit contributed to promoting two countries’ commitment to multilateral international action to achieve development and stability.

The Qatari dailies also focused on the Israeli dangerous escalation in Lebanon, warning of grave consequences for the region.

In its editorial entitled “Qatar and Canada… Development Partnership at Global Level,” Al-Raya underlined that Qatar’s major roles to localize development and peace globally have always promoted international praise and admiration.

Qatar has been involved in regional and international roles for the good of humanity. The State has developed, through its foreign policy, an effective approach to resolving complex global crises through dialogue, activating mediation, and calling for addressing the root cause of problems, thus becoming an international model to be emulated in positive interac
tion with global issues, Al-Raya said.

Qatar and Canada have significant and appreciated roles in the interest of global development. Both countries are keen on achieving the United Nations goals, Al-Raya stressed, pointing to announcement of Qatar, through the Education Above All Foundation, and Canada through Global Affairs Canada, of a joint commitment of $95 million to empower youth, with the Education Above All Foundation pledging $40 million to various initiatives.

The two countries also affirmed their commitment to enhancing joint cooperation across various sectors, especially in the afflicted Gaza Strip. The two countries reaffirmed their commitment to providing humanitarian assistance. Qatar will cooperate with Canada to provide psychological support to the wounded and their companions who were evacuated to the State of Qatar as part of the initiative of HH the Amir to treat 1,500 Palestinians from the Gaza Strip. In addition, the State of Qatar and Canada will work to expand their cooperation to h
elp those affected by conflicts in a number of countries, with a focus on humanitarian assistance and development projects.

In the same context, Al-Sharq underlined that HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani’s visit to Canada inaugurated a new beginning for the strong and advanced bilateral relations between the two countries, culminating 50 years of diplomatic relations based on cooperation and commitment to global action with more political, economic, educational, cultural, health and military achievements between the two countries.

In its editorial entitled “Qatar and Canada… Shared Commitment to Global Peace and Prosperity,” Al-Sharq noted that the commitment of Qatar and Canada goes beyond joint cooperation in addressing the conflict in Gaza, providing humanitarian assistance and foreign aid, reducing poverty and economic empowerment, to reach a joint commitment to peace and stability, strengthening their relations and working together for prosperity throughout the world.
