Doha: Qatari newspapers on Friday highlighted an array of local topics, most importantly the European interest in HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani’s speech at the inaugural summit between the European Union and the Gulf Cooperation Council, which affirmed the State of Qatar’s status at the regional and international levels, and its crucial roles in addressing global challenges and regional issues.

The Qatari dailies also highlighted HH the Amir’s speech at the opening of the fourth ordinary session of the first legislative term of the Shura Council, which laid the foundation for an important stage aimed at strengthening national unity, the values of equal citizenship, social responsibility, consolidating justice, and protection of public freedoms, under the principle of the rule of law.

In another context, the newspapers shed light on the successive developments achieved by the State of Qatar to transform the national strategy for the logistics sector into a tangible reality, through ensuring adv
anced infrastructure, including roads, access points, ports, and storage areas, as well as further adoption of digital transformation, and maintaining sustainability through the use of clean energy.

In its editorial titled “European Interest in HH the Amir’s Speech,” Al-Sharq said the positions outlined by HH the Amir at the first GCC-EU Summit, most notably the Palestinian issue and the destructive war that Israel continues to wage on the Palestinian territories and Lebanon, drew the attention of the Western media.

The European media’s interest in the contents of HH the Amir’s speech at the summit stems from the crucial roles carried out by His Highness and the State of Qatar to reach peaceful solutions to international crises, including the State’s efforts through the joint mediation to end the war in Gaza and Lebanon, Al-Sharq said.

In this context, the paper stressed the State of Qatar’s emphasis on the importance of finding a comprehensive settlement to the conflict, based on a just solution to the Pa
lestinian issue based on international legitimacy resolutions, including complete withdrawal from the Arab territories occupied in 1967 and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

For its part, Al-Watan noted the meeting of the Shura Council’s committee concerned with studying the amendment of articles in the constitution.

During the meeting, HE Minister of Justice and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Ibrahim bin Ali Al Mohannadi provided key clarifications and addressed the committee’s questions and inquiries regarding the proposed amendments, the paper noted.

The committee said HH the Amir’s speech at the opening of the fourth ordinary session of the first legislative term of the Shura Council lays the foundation for an important stage aimed at strengthening national unity, the values of equal citizenship, social responsibility, consolidating justice, and protection of public freedoms, under the principle of the rule of law, the paper pointed out.

A
l-Watan noted the unanimous agreement on the proposed amendments, based on the belief that the security, stability and prosperity that Qatar enjoys today have been realized as a result of the insightful vision of the wise leadership which believes in the importance of equality in rights and duties, and the consecration of the values of citizenship.
