Doha: Qatari newspapers touched on an array of local and Arab issues in their editorials on Sunday.
The Qatari dailies warned of a full-fledged regional war that seriously threatens international peace and security, saying that the Israeli attacks on three Iranian sites deepens fears about the expansion of the conflict.
In this context, the newspapers highlighted the State of Qatar’s constant warnings about the consequences of the mass genocide committed by the Israeli occupation in the Gaza Strip and the risk of expanding the war the region. The State voiced strong condemnation and denunciation of Israeli targeting of Iran as a blatant violation of the principles of international law, and expressed grave concern about the serious repercussions that may result from this escalation, and its implications for international peace and security.
Locally, Qatari newspapers noted the State of Qatar’s keenness on women’s advancement as a priority in its policy, based on its firm belief in the importance of strength
ening womens rights and enhancing their equal participation in the countrys sustainable development efforts, in alignment with Qatar National Vision 2030.
In its editorial titled “Spare the Region from Risk of Full-Blown War,” Al-Sharq said the failure of the international community in mounting pressure to end the ongoing genocide in the Gaza Strip for over a year increases the risk of the region descending into a full-fledged war that seriously threatens international peace and security.
The Israeli attack that targeted three sites in three Iranian provinces has deepened fears about the expansion of conflict in the region that would drag in more global powers, thus endagering global energy supplies and threatening peace and security in the Middle East and the world, Al-Sharq said.
The State of Qatar, which has always warned of the repercussions of the genocide in Gaza and the danger of the war expanding in the region, has voiced its strong condemnation and denunciation of Israels targeting of Iran, consid
ering this action a flagrant violation of Irans sovereignty and a clear breach of the principles of international law. The State also expressed its deep concern about the serious repercussions that may result from this escalation and its implications for international peace and security, Al-Sharq added.
The State of Qatar, which is aware of the danger of the continued escalation in the region, and the expansion of the conflict and the threat it poses to the regional security and stability, has urged all concerned parties to exercise self-restraint, resolve differences through dialogue and peaceful means, and avoid anything that would destabilize security and stability in the region. The State renewed calls on the international community to intensify efforts aimed at calming and reducing escalation, and ending the suffering of the peoples of the region, especially in Gaza and Lebanon, the paper said.
Since the outbreak of the war in the Gaza Strip, the State of Qatar has raced against time to prevent the reg
ion from descending into a full-scale war, carrying out a vital role to reach a ceasefire agreement, in preparation for finding a sustainable solution to the Palestinian issue, Al-Sharq concluded.
Under the headline “Dangerous Escalation,” Al-Watan said the ongoing brutal Israeli crimes in the Gaza Strip and the storming of Kamal Adwan Hospital, arresting medical staff and a number of patients and wounded, detaining women without water or food, destroying ambulances and targeting electricity generators constitute heinous crime against defenseless civilians and a blatant violation of the international humanitarian law.
In addition, the ongoing barbaric aggression on the Lebanese territory is also a blatant and dangerous violation of a sovereign state, a member of the United Nations, Al-Watan added.
Eventually, Israels targeting of Iran confirmed that Tel Aviv is attempting to drag the entire region into a destructive confrontation, unless the international community intervenes to put an end to these crimes,
Al-Watan stressed.
Any solution for the conflict must be based on granting the Palestinians their legitimate rights and establishing their independent state on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital; otherwise, matters could take on more dangerous dimensions, the paper pointed out.
Targeting Iran was an extremely dangerous escalation that revealed Tel Avivs real intention to drag the region into a full-scale confrontation and lure major countries into the conflict, Al-Watan concluded.
