Doha: In their editorials on Tuesday, Qatari newspapers focused on local and regional developments, with particular emphasis on Qatar’s participation in the 2025 High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) on Sustainable Development, as well as the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs’ initiatives in training Qatari imams and preachers.
According to Qatar News Agency, Al-Raya newspaper underscored that Qatar’s involvement in the HLPF on Sustainable Development signifies the nation’s dedication to advancing the sustainable development agenda, in alignment with Qatar National Vision 2030 and the Third National Development Strategy (2024-2030). The newspaper highlighted Qatar’s presentation of its achievements in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through its Voluntary National Review, illustrating the synergy between national and global development objectives.
The editorial further noted that sustainable development indicators are crucial in evaluating nations’ progress, providing measurable standards that allow for cross-country comparisons. These indicators offer insights into the success or challenges countries face in implementing sustainable development strategies.
In another editorial, Al-Watan newspaper focused on the efforts of the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, particularly through the Da’wah and Religious Guidance Department, in enhancing the skills of Qatari imams and preachers. The newspaper highlighted a recent course, Family Jurisprudence in Islam, which concluded after six months as part of the Paths and Beacons program with the participation of 15 preachers. This initiative is part of the Ministry’s broader strategy to equip Qatari preachers with the necessary skills to address contemporary family issues effectively.
The editorial emphasized that such training sessions are vital in preparing preachers to fulfill the evolving needs of Qatari society, ensuring that they are capable of providing informed religious guidance and support.
