Al-raya: The great achievement accomplished by the State of Qatar, along with its partners in Egypt, the United States, and Turkiye, regarding the signing of the first phase of US President Donald Trump’s plan to end the war in Gaza between Hamas and Israel, demonstrates Qatar’s unwavering commitment to the just Palestinian cause, which remains its central concern.
According to Qatar News Agency, Al-Raya newspaper emphasized that throughout two years of aggression, Qatar has mobilized diplomacy to stop the massacres and end the oppression of Palestinians in Gaza and the occupied Palestinian territories. This effort culminated in the awe-inspiring scenes of hundreds of thousands of Gazans returning to their homes in the north, who now await support to lift their burden after enduring unprecedented humanitarian disasters.
Al-Raya stated that the State of Qatar will continue to stand by Palestinians until they overcome this bloody chapter in their history of struggle, leading to the establishment of their independent state. It highlighted HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani’s confirmation in a post on his official account on X that, as the first phase of the ceasefire agreement comes into force, Qatar will spare no effort in fulfilling its humanitarian, historical, and diplomatic duty toward the Palestinian brothers and the region. He noted that the success of this phase is a collective responsibility to ensure the implementation of the agreement and the achievement of peace and stability.
The daily noted that the State of Qatar has been involved in the recent Gaza crisis since October 8, 2023, mobilizing its diplomacy to spare the region the scourge of war, destruction, and displacement. In December 2023 and January 2025, Qatar successfully concluded two truce agreements that allowed for the exchange of prisoners and detainees, continuing its tireless efforts day and night.
In this regard, it highlighted the Qatari negotiators’ capacity to shoulder their responsibilities, with their efforts culminating in the announcement of a ceasefire agreement in Gaza signed by Hamas and Israel. It pointed out that the historic agreement, which restored joy and happiness to Gaza, confirmed that military operations cannot resolve the problem; rather, mediation and political solutions are the most reliable and shortest path to resolving disputes and crises.
Al-Raya concluded its editorial by stating that the overwhelming international welcome for the announcement of the agreement and the praise for Qatari efforts are testimony and recognition of Qatar’s significant influence on international politics and the success of its vision and approach based on mediation. It brings renewed joy and hope to the people in Gaza with the end of the aggression.
