San Jose: Qatar’s Ambassador to Costa Rica, Abdulrahman bin Mohammed Al Dosari, emphasized the strengthening ties between Qatar and Costa Rica since the pivotal visit by HH the Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani in 2010.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Ambassador highlighted the significant development in bilateral relations, which began with HH the Father Amir’s meeting with former Costa Rican President Dr. Oscar Arias. This visit laid the foundation for cooperation across international platforms, leading to the establishment of the Costa Rican Embassy in Doha in 2010, followed by Qatar’s Embassy in San Jose in 2011.
As HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani prepares for his upcoming trip to Costa Rica, Ambassador Al Dosari noted that this visit marks only the second by a leader from the Arab or Gulf region, following HH the Father Amir’s precedent. The visit, extended at the invitation of Costa Rican President Rodrigo Chaves Robles, aims to elevate the bilateral relationship to align
with the aspirations of both nations’ leadership.
Discussions during the visit will cover regional and international issues of mutual concern, with a particular focus on boosting collaboration in investment, economic, and trade sectors. The Ambassador underscored the importance of this visit in further strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries.
Additionally, the visit coincides with the Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani International Anti-Corruption Excellence Award ceremony. The Ambassador explained that this prestigious award, supported by the United Nations, is hosted annually in different countries, with Costa Rica being selected this year due to its leading role in anti-corruption efforts in the region.
Ambassador Al Dosari disclosed that during HH the Amir’s visit, both leaders will oversee the signing of multiple agreements and memoranda of understanding, further solidifying the cooperation framework. This strategic dialogue is poised to enhance bilateral relations across all s
ectors, contributing significantly to the mutual development objectives of Qatar and Costa Rica.
