Qatar’s Constitutional Amendments Ratified Following High Voter Turnout.

Doha: In its editorial on Thursday, The Peninsula newspaper highlighted the successful referendum on the proposed constitutional amendments in Qatar, which saw active participation from citizens on Tuesday. This participation was in response to the call by HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani. The amendments were ratified by HH the Amir on Wednesday after the referendum results were reviewed, showing an approval rate of 90.6% of the total valid votes.

According to Qatar News Agency, The Peninsula praised the high voter turnout, which affirmed citizens’ trust and confidence in the leadership, demonstrating national unity and cohesion. This participation is seen as a step towards enhancing public involvement in national affairs, strengthening national unity, and promoting consultation, justice, and the rule of law. The General Referendum Committee and other concerned authorities were commended for their impeccable arrangements and facilitation for citizens’ participation. They set up 28 voting points ac
ross Qatar, with special arrangements for people with special needs and the elderly.

The newspaper noted that the referendum exemplified active popular participation and a strong bond between leadership and citizens. The high level of national awareness regarding the importance of these amendments was evident, reinforcing principles of Shura, national unity, and promoting comprehensive development. This is expected to foster economic and social stability, contributing to the ongoing progress and prosperity in the state.
