Qatar’s Heritage Takes Center Stage at Arab Cultural Week in Paris.

Paris: Qatar’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), Dr. Nasser bin Hamad Al Hanzab, emphasized the significant role of Qatar’s participation in the recently concluded “Arab Week at UNESCO” in Paris. The event highlighted the richness of Qatari heritage, customs, and traditions rooted deeply in its Arab and Islamic identity. It also showcased the nation’s strides in civilization, human advancement, and pioneering cultural projects, enabling the Qatari people to engage extensively and equally with various human cultures and civilizations.

According to Qatar News Agency, Dr. Al Hanzab noted that Qatar’s collaboration with its Arab counterparts during the Arab Week underscored the immense importance of this initiative. The unified Arab participation aimed to bring the richness of Arab culture, customs, and authentic traditions to the attention of countries present at UNESCO. as been notable, as the organization serves as a global meeting place for diverse cultures and nations.

Dr. Al Hanzab further highlighted Qatar’s commitment to emphasizing the universal and human dimensions of Arab culture through international events. He cited the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 as a prime example of how Qatar successfully introduced the world to Arab culture, showcasing its richness and humanistic aspects that have contributed significantly to global civilizations.

Qatar’s significant presence at UNESCO, he added, has been instrumental in promoting Arab culture through various exhibitions, events, and cultural proposals. These initiatives aim to enhance the visibility of Arab tangible and intangible heritage at an international level. The country believes in cultural diplomacy as a crucial tool for fostering communication and understanding between cultures, and UNESCO provides the perfect platform for such exchanges.

Dr. Al Hanzab also noted Qatar’s influential role within UNESCO’s organizatio
nal framework, including its membership in the Executive Board and leadership of key committees. Qatar’s advanced positions within the organization reflect the international community’s trust in its role in promoting peace, security, and a culture of dialogue and tolerance globally, in line with UNESCO’s values.

The Arab Week at UNESCO, organized by the Arab Group at UNESCO, featured notable Qatari participation and included representatives from Arab countries and international diplomats based in France. The week’s activities showcased 22 cultural corners from Arab nations, presenting their culture, heritage, history, and civilization. The program featured a variety of cultural and artistic events, including an Arab cultural market, Arabic calligraphy exhibition, heritage site imagery, music pavilion, cooking demonstrations, handicrafts, fashion showcases, and symposiums on the Arab novel and artificial intelligence.
