Qatar’s Ministry of Municipality Pushes for Agricultural Modernization

Doha: Qatari Newspaper Editorials have highlighted a significant initiative by the Ministry of Municipality aimed at modernizing and empowering Qatar’s agricultural sector. By accelerating services to farmers and introducing advanced machinery, the Ministry has taken major strides toward sustainable local food production and long-term food security.

According to Qatar News Agency, The Peninsula newspaper emphasized that the Ministry’s approach is particularly noteworthy for its responsiveness to seasonal needs. During the critical cultivation window from June to August, farmers now benefit from quicker access to essential services such as land ploughing and leveling. The Ministry has established a clear system that covers land preparation, input support with fertilizers, seeds, and pesticides, and marketing assistance through outlets like Qatar Farms and the Premium Product initiative.

The newspaper also drew attention to the Ministry’s digital transformation. With up to 90% of services now accessible online, Qatar is empowering farmers to manage their operations more independently and efficiently. This shift towards digital services is a significant step in enhancing efficiency and supporting the country’s sustainability agenda.

The Peninsula concluded by noting that Qatar is undergoing a major transformation in its agricultural sector through the adoption of advanced, smart farming technologies. This transformation is part of Qatar’s broader commitment to the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030, which emphasizes environmental preservation, economic diversification, and self-sufficiency.

On a different note, Al-Sharq newspaper condemned recent acts of violence and armed clashes in As-Suwayda Governorate, Syria, resulting in numerous casualties. The paper highlighted the challenges facing Syria’s transitional government led by President Ahmed Al-Sharaa, as it works to impose security, protect civilians, and activate institutional roles for civil peace.

The newspaper also criticized the Israeli airstrikes on Syrian territory amid ongoing tensions in As-Suwayda, describing them as violations of Syria’s sovereignty and breaches of international law. These repeated aggressions call for urgent international action to compel Israel to abide by international laws and prevent further escalation in the region.

In conclusion, the editorial affirmed Qatar’s firm stance in supporting Syria’s sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity, consistently reiterated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Qatar has warned that ongoing Israeli attacks on Syria, Lebanon, and the Gaza Strip could further fuel violence in the region.
