Qatar’s Shura Council Concludes Fourth Regular Meeting with Legislative Advances

Doha: In an editorial published by The Peninsula, it was highlighted that the fourth regular meeting of Qatar’s Shura Council’s First Legislative Term has concluded, marking the 53rd annual session. This session stands as a testament to Qatar’s commitment to principled governance, national development, and regional responsibility.

According to Qatar News Agency, the session was presided over by HE Speaker Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim and included 81 committee meetings that addressed 49 critical topics of national interest. Significant legislative advancements were achieved, including amendments to the Human Resources Law, new regulations for supporting people with disabilities, and innovative laws focused on cybercrime, genetic fingerprinting, and doping in sports. These legislative efforts showcase the Council’s responsiveness to a rapidly evolving society and underscore its proactive embrace of Qatar National Vision 2030.

The Peninsula further elaborated that through close engagement with government ministries, the Council has meticulously scrutinized executive plans and policies across key sectors such as education, health, infrastructure, environment, and investment. This ensures that governance aligns with national aspirations as outlined in the Qatar National Vision 2030.

On a separate note, Al-Raya emphasized in its editorial the importance placed by the State of Qatar on building a robust and integrated commercial, industrial, and financial system, guided by its National Vision 2030. The editorial noted the country’s significant investments in developing technological infrastructure to accommodate emerging technologies, keep pace with the Fourth Industrial Revolution, and attract more investment in this sector.

Al-Raya also highlighted Qatar’s strong and resilient economy, which has withstood numerous global challenges and crises, thanks to successful economic policies. These policies have elevated Qatar’s status on the global economic map, establishing it as an international hub for business and trade. The country’s comprehensive legislative reforms, sustainable energy diversification, and ongoing infrastructure development have been instrumental in this achievement.

The newspaper concluded by highlighting Qatar’s notable progress in technological infrastructure and artificial intelligence, among others. Qatar has signed trade agreements with major global economies and trading blocs, providing investors access to key global markets. Al-Raya pointed out that Qatar National Vision 2030 continues to create promising opportunities for leading companies to partner with Qatari institutions in implementing the vision’s ambitious programs. The recent approval by the General Assembly of Qatar Chamber of the Board of Directors’ report and the auditor’s report further emphasizes the board’s efforts to support the private sector, enhance operational mechanisms within the Chamber, and improve the business environment in line with Qatar National Vision 2030.
