Rabat International Book Fair Begins with Global Participation

Rabat: The Rabat International Book Fair began in Rabat and is set to continue until May 10. A total of 891 exhibitors from Morocco and 60 other countries spanning the Arab world, Africa, Europe, Asia, and the Americas are showcasing over 130,000 titles at this year’s edition.

According to Qatar News Agency, the fair is organized as part of the activities of Rabat World Book Capital of 2026 and is dedicated to celebrating the Moroccan traveler Ibn Battuta. The fair commemorates his journey through his renowned work, the Travels of Ibn Battuta, by artistically depicting the journey across 10 significant stops, from Tangier to China, including African and Arab countries.

The organizers highlighted that travel literature is the main theme of this edition. The cultural program features a centenary segment dedicated to Moroccan, Arab, and international writers and includes a commemoration of the 900th anniversary of the philosopher Averroes.
