Representative of the Kurdistan in the joint forces command: We will work to form other joint brigades to fill the security gaps


The representative of the Kurdistan Regional Government in the Joint Forces Command, Major General Abdul Khaleq Talaat, announced work on forming other joint brigades, in addition to the two brigades that were formed, to fill the security gaps.

Talaat said in a statement to the National Iraqi News Agency / NINA /: ‘The forces of the two joint brigades were entered into training camps for a period of three months, and the units will then be distributed to the divisions after they are determined between the Federal Ministries of Defense and the Peshmerga.’

He confirmed that there is great cooperation between the Federal Ministry of Defense and the Peshmerga forces, to make the work of these two brigades successful.

He added: “In the future, we will work to form other brigades to fill the rest of the security gaps, given that its area is large, approximately 542 square kilometers.”

The head of the Security Media Cell, Major General Tahseen Al-Khafaji, announced earlier today the completion of the process of
establishing two joint brigades of the army and the Peshmerga forces.

Al-Khafaji said in a statement to the National Iraqi News Agency /NINA/ today: ‘The establishment of these two brigades came after great cooperation between the federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government, specifically between the Federal Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Peshmerga,’ noting: ‘The deployment of the units of the two brigades will be in areas with common interest, and the locations of the forces and the guarding and inspection points will be determined soon.
