Moscow: The Russian Ministry of Defense announced on Sunday that its air defense systems successfully intercepted and shot down 77 Ukrainian drones across various regions of Russian territory during the night.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Ministry’s statement detailed the distribution of the interceptions, reporting that 42 drones were downed over the Saratov Oblast, 12 over the Rostov Oblast, 10 in the area of Crimea, nine over the Volgograd Oblast, two over the Belgorod Oblast, and one each over the Astrakhan Oblast and CHechnya.

The conflict, which began in late February 2022, has seen both Russia and Ukraine frequently report on the interception of attacks by the opposing side. These claims remain difficult to verify due to the ongoing nature of the hostilities.
